Catherine Ford is a British actress who was born in Bloomsbury. When her father's departure from the household, the actress was raised up by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. While she was a small girl, Catherine Ford struggled with an obsessional disorder and suffered from anxiety due to the word association. Ford started acting in her teens, and was part of the National Youth Theatre. Ford gained entry to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, however, she decided after one week that she would not be a good choice for this school. Ford decided to apply for the Central School of Speech and Drama, finally winning a place on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler as a regular character on Doctor Who. Ford's television debut was in an episode in 1991 called Surgical Spirit. By the time she graduated, Ford already went by "Catherine Tate". Tate was on television in the Nineties with shows such as The Bill and Men Behaving Badly. Apart from her regular stage work, Tate was a part of with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. Tate started to get noticed because of her stand-up comedic performances in 1996.
